"What's this?! A website (at the time, I didn't have a clue what a blog was) devoted to card collecting." I thought.
As I read through some of the posts, I came across terms that I had never heard before; Blaster Box, Blister Pack, Parallel, and more. There were posts about trades with other bloggers. I found myself laughing out loud a few times. I remember a post where readers were invited to try and identify a pile of DVD's for a shot at winning cards. It was, and is a great entertaining site.
Being a sort of newbie to modern card collecting, I sent off an e-mail asking about these foreign terms to me, and offering a trade, a slew of Brewers for some Tigers. Without knowing me from Adam, Thorzul answered my questions, and agreed to a trade. If not for his generosity, and non-dickish way of dealing with this 'new' collector, I may have not gotten back to collecting the way I do today.
Recently, I got a great unexpected package from Milwaukee. The note inside read, "Hopefully (they're) in the hands of someone who will appreciate (them) more than I would."

I appreciate you, the cards, and your entertaining blog very much Thorzul. You're one-of-a-kind.
I would say your experience was the same as mine. The "A Pack A Day" to Throzul transfer was the same thing I did.
ReplyDelete...and you paid it forward with an encouraging e-mail to me six months ago after I also searched "baseball cards" - and found a few - including your great blog. Thanks for that and the trading.
